Moshibudi Mampa (17) from Polokwane is an aspiring model and actress and will be taking part in auditions hosted by the Arts Talent Showcase in New York in May

POLOWKANE – Moshibudi says she wasn’t certain about what she wanted to study after completing matric but she does know that her passion for acting and modelling are set deep in her heart. “I have been modelling for the past two years and recently ventured into acting and I get so much fulfillment and joy whenever I am on stage,” explained Moshibudi.

She says she decided to take a gap year after completing matric so she could focus on her modelling and acting career and each day she says she falls more and more in love with the industry.

“I have over the years noticed that this industry is very competitive and needs one to keep abreast with current trends so that one can keep active and competitive. There are certain misconceptions and stereotypes concerning what an actor or actress should look like, same applies for models, especially for those hailing from small towns. The struggle of making a name for yourself then becomes even harder. I want to be one of those actresses or models who bring forth a change that benefits the less popular because I believe all it takes for anyone to make in any industry, all they need is self believe and hard work,” she added.

She says she has not always been a confident person, but has had to come to terms with having the spotlight on her as a public figure and entertainer and says she uses critique as a stepping stone to climbing up the ladder to success.
