Olifantspoort plant not pumping to Polokwane due to a power failure, says Muni

Areas receiving water are urged to use water sparingly and make sure that all taps remain closed.

POLOKWANE – The Olifantspoort Plant is currently not pumping to Polokwane due to a power failure at the pump station, says Municipal communications manager, Matshidiso Mothapo.

“Eskom technicians have been notified and pumping will resume once the problem is resolved. Water supply systems have been under tremendous strain due to stoppages experienced from the Ebenzer plant due to load shedding and pipe bursts from the Olifantspoort line,” he explained.

All areas of supply are affected with higher areas in the city, Seshego, Mankweng and rural areas being most affected by shortages.

“Areas receiving water are urged to use water sparingly and make sure that all taps remain closed. Water tankers will continue in the affected areas,” Mothapo concluded.
