POLOKWANE – The hefty jail term emanates from an incident that occurred in May last year, where Motsayi brutally killed his daughter with a pick axe at his home in Extension 5 outside Mookgopong. The murder was allegedly prompted by jealous rage, said Police spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela.
“It is alleged the accused had invited the mother of victim, his ex-girlfriend, to his home for a visit so that he could spend some time with the baby. However when she later wanted to return home, he accused her of cheating on him and assaulted her. She ran home and had asked her younger sister to fetch the baby but in the meantime the accused had gone into the room where the infant was sleeping and assaulted her with a pickaxe,” Manamela explained.
