Two men arrested at the Beitbridge Border post in possession of explosives

The men were stopped, searched and found in possession of connector cap fuses and 900 units of cables to the estimated value of R250 000

LIMPOPO – Police in Musina have arrested two men, aged 25 and 30-years-old at the Beitbridge border post for possession of explosives (connector cap fuses and cables).

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police were conducting routine search and patrol operations at the border post, early on Friday morning, 15 March, when they noticed the suspects carrying big bags.

The men were stopped, searched and found in possession of connector cap fuses and 900 units of cables to the estimated value of R250 000.

“The origin and destination of these explosives are still being determined by ongoing police investigations and further police investigations revealed that one of the suspects had also contravened the Illegal Immigration Act by being in the country illegally,” he added.

Both suspects will appear before the Musina Magistrates Court, soon.

Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has commended Saps members and other role players operating in the Port of Entry for the job well done in maintaining stability.
