Stage 4 loadshedding will continue throughout Sunday, says Eskom

Eskom added that even with the implementation of stage 4 on Saturday, it experienced a further decline in water reserves which was used to supplement generation capacity.

POLOKWANE – Eskom said is would continue with loadshedding throughout Saturday night as well as throughout  Sunday. This is in an effort to build up necessary water reserves in its pump shortage scheme.

“Loadshedding will shift from stage 4 to stage 2 from 23:00 on Saturday evening up to 08:00 on Sunday morning. It will then move to Stage 4 from 08:00 to 23:00 on Sunday, 17 March,” a statement read.

Eskom added that even with the implementation of stage 4 on Saturday, it experienced a further decline in water reserves which was used to supplement generation capacity.

“The management of the diesel and water resources is essential to ensure that the impact of the potential stage of loadshedding in the week ahead can be reduced,”the power utility explained.

Stage 4 was implemented due to the loss of capacity which included imports from Mozambique and says that imports from the country won’t be likely in the next few days due to the cyclone.

“Eskom’s maintenance teams are hard at work at our power stations in order to return units to the system,” the statement concluded.
