Pratt Luyt & De Lange Attorneys welcomes Elaine Meyer as a partner with effect from 1 March 2019.
Meyer is the first female partner of the firm which was established in 1908 and joins Johan Moolman and Rafique Essa, the other partners.
Meyer obtained her LLB degree at UNISA in 2010 and joined Pratt Luyt & De Lange Attorneys in 2014 as a Professional Assistant, after her admission as an attorney in 2013. She has been appearing in the High Court since 2014 and is set to complete her Conveyancing exam later this year. In 2018 she was accredited by CIPC as a Business Rescue Practitioner and is currently involved in numerous business rescue turnarounds in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
She matriculated at Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp in 2005 with five distinctions. Her accolades include being head girl and dux learner. The fact that she also obtained a certificate for 12 years’ 100% school attendance, speaks for her determination and dedication. Elaine obtained Gauteng colours in Gymnastics in 1998 and was a member of the Gauteng Netball Team in 1999. Elaine is the youngest of four children and the only girl.
Before relocating to Polokwane, she was employed by two law practices in Jeffrey’s Bay where she served her articles. It was also her first principal, Mr CF Swanepoel, that cemented her love for the profession with his indisputable knowledge and passion for law.
She is currently the head of the firm’s collections department and also deals with Family Law, Labour Law as well as High Court and lower Court litigation.
She describes herself as a good listener and a hard worker and is recognised by colleagues as a balanced and goal orientated person. She owns two Boston Terriers who she adores. When she finds time to relax she loves to play a round of golf at Polokwane Golf Club, where she is also a member.
