Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, says the three suspects were driving in a truck that had already crossed the border from Botswana into South Africa when police directed the truck towards the searching bay for inspection.
“During the searching process, tubes of Epiderm skin lightening creams, Cyproheptadine tablets, copper cables and shoes were found hidden at the back of the truck,” Ngoepe explained.
The trio was immediately apprehended and the following items were seized:
– 16 600 × 15g tubes of Epiderm creams
– 759 400 Cyproheptadine tablets.
– 13kg of copper cables
– 112 pairs of shoes.
Police also confiscated the truck and trailer and the estimated value of the recovered items is over R23 million.
“The suspects are expected to appear before the Phalala Magistrates Court, soon. Police investigations continue,” Ngoepe concluded.
