‘Corrupt’ police admin clerk granted R5 000 bail

The 43-year-old police admin clerk was arrested for allegedly demanding R10K bribe to process job application

LIMPOPO – The 43-year-old human resources clerk was granted R5000 bail for alleged corruption by the Giyani Magistrates Court today (Monday, 11 March).

The suspect works in Human Resource Development and was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Unit, after allegedly demanding a R10 000 bribe from a job applicant in order to process the application.

The suspect is expected to reappear before the court on 25 March, Hawks spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke said.

LIMPOPO-  A 43-year-old administration clerk who works in Human Resource Development, is expected to appear before the Giyani Magistrates Court  today (Monday, 4 March) on a charge of corruption.

The 43-year-old clerk is responsible for recruitment at the Giyani Police Station.

Spokesperson for the Hawks, Captain Matimba Maluleke, said the suspect was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Unit, after allegedly demanding a R10 000 bribe from a job applicant in order to process the application.

“The Hawks were immediately alerted and the suspect was detained on Saturday afternoon following an undercover operation,” Maluleke added.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Province, Major General Thobeka Jozi, has welcomed the arrest and vowed the Hawks will not hesitate to deal with public servants irrespective of their stature in government as well as in the private sector.
