A Police search continues for the suspects who allegedly kidnapped a local businessman from his house in the city on Saturday and has since been found unharmed in an open field outside Polokwane yesterday (Sunday).
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe the victim’s identity is being withheld as he is a key witness in the case.
He indicated that the businessman was with some of his employees when unknown armed suspects entered his house and ordered them to lie down. During the process the suspects robbed the victims of their cell phones and forced the businessman inside his vehicle and drove off. According to Ngoepe the car was later found abandoned near Ivy Park.
Ngoepe indicated that Police immediately conducted a joint operation to track down the perpetrators and to rescue the kidnapped businessman. The victim was subsequently found unharmed after he was dumped in an open field a few kilometres outside Polokwane still tied up and blindfolded.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the suspects had withdrawn an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s bank account before they left him in the field.
