POLOKWANE : The police have successfully managed to rescue a local businessman who was earlier reportedly kidnapped during a house robbery incident at his house in the city on Saturday night.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said a police joint operation, which had been activated to track down the perpetrators and to rescue the kidnapped businessman, found the victim in an open field a few kilometers outside the city.
“He was unharmed, still tied up and blind folded. Preliminary police investigations have also revealed that the suspects withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s bank account before they left him at that spot,” Ngoepe added.
Prior to this discovery, the victim and his employees were attacked by unknown suspects at home who pointed them with firearms and ordered them to lie down.
A manhunt for the suspects involved continues and the police once again urge anyone with information that can lead to their arrest, to contact Colonel Linky Mathebula at 064 756 8218.
