The Provincial Legislature is mourning the passing of a member of the house, Rosina Mogotlane who died on Saturday.
A statement issued by the Legislature informed that Mogotlane was serving as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Oversight Mechanism. She was also a member of various committees tasked with the responsibility of ensuring good governance and accountability in provincial government, it was reported.
Speaker of the Provincial Legislature Polly Boshielo remembered Mogotlane as a selfless leader who was always willing to share her vast knowledge. “Mme Mogotlane was always willing to be sent. She understood the Thuma Mina call by President Cyril Ramaphosa. We will miss her rich sense of humour and knowledge. May her beautiful soul rest in peace,” Boshielo said.
The Office of the Premier also conveyed heartfelt condolences to Mogotlane’s family and has indicated in a statement that she was not only a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) but a leader in her own way. Before she became a member of the house, she was the African National Congress Waterberg Regional Leader and held several leadership positions even before then, Premier Stan Mathabatha was quoted to have said.
Mathabatha had on behalf of the Executive Council and the Provincial Government sent heartfelt condolences to the family, her children and the Legislature. The cause of her death and place of death were not made public.
