#JusticeForThoriso: three adults arrested, bringing total to nine

Three more suspects were arrested in connection whit the brutal murder of 27-year-old, Thoriso Themane.

POLOKWANE – The three suspects, all aged 36, were arrested last night (Thursday) 28 February).

“Members of the Multidisciplinary team of investigators that was assembled to investigate the brutal murder of Thoriso Themane arrested the suspects at different location within the city, said Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

This after the court case against six suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Themane was postponed to Monday 4 March for further investigations. The six suspects, aged between the ages of 15 and 16-years-old,  appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges of murder and were remanded in police custody.

Themane was assaulted by a group of teenagers on Saturday night, 23 February and left for dead in Flora Park. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, after being taken to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital.

All nine suspects are facing a charge of murder, Mojapelo concluded.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended the members for these prompt arrests. “These speedy arrests are an indication that the police will not hesitate to take strong action against anyone who engages in any violent behavior that results in the death of another person,” said General Ledwaba.

He concluded by making an appeal to members of the public to give the police the necessary space to investigate this case without any hindrance and the that they should instead assist the police by providing valuable information that will be helpful in cracking this case.
