Learners of Jabez Christian Academy through their social outreach initiative donated 54 packs and 58 litres of yoghurt to children undergoing cancer treatment at the Cansa Tough Living (TLC) Polokwane Paediatric Oncology Ward last Friday.
According to Linda Were from Cansa TLC in Polokwane the yoghurt will promote appetite in young patients who struggle to consume solid food.
“Yoghurt is smooth and nutritious. It will also put back the natural bacteria that some of them lose during their treatment. We are thankful to the school for the heart-warming gesture. We will feed the children yoghurt three times a day so that they can be strong,” Were said.
Elana Erasmus, principal of Jabez Christian Academy, thanked the parents of the school for helping the learners to collect yoghurt for the ward’s patients.
“We thank our learners for giving up their own yoghurt. They have shown that they are responsible persons in their respective communities,” Erasmus said.
