Ruben le Roux, a Grade 8 learner at Stanford Lake College, is a multi-disciplined rider who competed in the recent Limpopo’s Equestrian Competition qualifying round with first-rate results. He was privileged to compete on two horses, Our Mattox and Ti Quinta. Ruben and Our Mattox, a thoroughbred gelding, were placed well in the four classes in which they competed. They were first in the handy hunter team event, second in the 90 cm working hunter category, third in the
1 m show jumping and fourth in the two-phase speed, 1 m high show jumping class. Riding Ti Qunta, his new Warmblood gelding, Ruben participated in the show jumping (competition class, 1 m) and finished sixth. They finished fourth in both the
90 cm equitation and working hunter classes and fifth in show jumping (two phase speed class).
