[TAKE NOTE] Road closures ahead of the State of the Province Address

Roads will be closed from 06:00 to 13:00 for the State of the Province Address which will take place at Jack Botes Hall tomorrow, 22 February

POLOKWANE – Motorists and residents should take note of the planned road closures in the central business district (CBD) due to the State of the Province Address (SOPA) ceremony.

Municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selela says the following streets will be closed from 06:00 on Friday morning, 22 February 2019 to 13:00:

• Thabo Mbeki from Biccard to Paul Kruger Street
• Bodenstein from Landros Mare to Paul Kruger Street
• Corner of Biccard and Bodenstein Streets
• Landros Mare between Bodenstein and Thabo Mbeki Street
• Church between Thabo Mbeki and Rabe Street
• Paul Kruger between Thabo Mbeki and Rabe Street
• Corner of Market and Rabe Street

“Street demonstrations will commence at 09:00 from SABC Park to Jack Botes Hall via Landros Mare Street on to Excelsior Street and right on to Schoeman to Bodenstein Street until Jack Botes,” Selela added.

The Visitor Information Centre (VIC) next to Jack Botes Hall will also be affected as there will be no parking from today, 21 February, ahead of the ceremony. However, visitors to the centre can make a walk-in. During Sopa, the centre will not be accessible but available via e-mail and telephone.

“The municipality urges motorists, businesses and visitors to be patient and to use alternative routes during the proceedings of the ceremony and to adhere to the traffic instructions given by the law enforcement officers,” Selela concluded.
