Rumours circulating that the city’s municipal water is unfit for human consumption are devoid of all truth.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Mothapo Matshidiso confirmed at noon today (Wednesday) that high turbidity caused discolouration of the water in the line from the Olifantspoort water treatment plant.
“Not all areas are experiencing the brownish colour. Scientific tests were conducted from various points by the municipality and Lepelle Northern Water and the water was certified to be safe for human consumption. There is no need for panic as the brownish colour will disappear with time,” Mothapo said.
