The main purpose of SOPA is to provide the Premier an opportunity to address citizens of Limpopo on the progress made by government in delivering services to its people. In the address the Premier is also expected to officially outline programmes that government departments will be undertaking for the incoming financial year of 2019/20.

Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Polly Boshielo, told the media that all Sopas are important, however this one stands out as it is the last that the Premier will be delivering under the current fifth term of Legislature.

“Due to this fact, we have made sure that more people experience the last address in a venue that can capacitate over 1000 seated guests who will hear about the milestones that characterised the last five terms. To date, a total of 800 guests have confirmed attendance and the number is expected to increase,” she said.

In the spirit of embracing cultural diversity in the province, Boshielo says Bapedi and Indian traditional groups will entertain guests, together with the Legislature Choir during different intervals on the day. A live band has also been appointed to provide entertainment at the luncheon at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“The 2019 Sopa event will start at 10:00 am and invited guests are expected to arrive at the Jack Botes Hall by 09:00,” she concluded.

Information of road closures in and around the precinct will be made available to residents once received.
