POLOKWANE – Limpopo police’s specialised stock theft unit continue the fight against stock theft which has resulted in the arrest of three men for suspected stolen live stock (cattle) in the Roedtan policing area, outside Modimolle.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the arrest was made during a joint operation by the stock theft unit and the farming community in the area following a tip-off from the community about a planned theft of live stock at a certain farm.
“On their arrival at the farm, police found the suspects in a Toyota Hilux loaded with two Bonsmara bulls. The suspects may be linked to other stock theft cases within the province,” he said.
The arrested suspects will appear before the local Magistrate Court, soon.
Meanwhile, the Lenyenye Regional Court, outside Tzaneen, sentenced Christopher Gorden Succens to five years imprisonment or R100 000 fine for possession of sixteen rhino horns, an offense he committed in the Hoedspruit Policing area outside Phalaborwa in July 2015.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended the stock theft unit throughout the province for their dedication and commitment displayed in the fight against stock theft and poaching incidents.
