Hulisani Centre a great educational effort

Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Acting Mayor and Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for finance, Thembekile Sihlangu was visibly overwhelmed by the impressive display of excellence during the annual Mamone Science Centre’s Matric Award Ceremony, held at Jane Furse Comprehensive School.

LIMPOPO – Sihlangu delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Mayor, Stanley Ramaila.

He congratulated learners on their excellent performance.

She said as the district, they were there on behalf of government to acknowledge the school’s achievements, and encourage them to work even harder.

Sihlangu continued to hail the results consistency of the centre and added that the district had acknowledged the centre’s work from as early as 2017.

“We will continue to acknowledge the initiatives of the centre to motivate fellow citizens and the residents of Sekhukhune to espouse the winning spirit characterised by collaboration and joint efforts,” said Sihlangu.

She congratulated efforts by the centre to achieve top results by allowing learners from Gr 10 to Gr 12 to supplement their studies and enjoy detailed attention from the best teachers from different schools.

She congratulated Bongani Thabethe and the Hulisani Education Resource Centre for steering the rural education enrichment and learner support centre, which she referred to as “an ambitious project to take Sekhukhune to new heights”.

She said Mamone Science Centre was an education enrichment project established in 2015 to address challenges in mathematics and physical sciences in the district, in Makhuduthamaga in particular.

The project operates from Kgaladi and Marotobale Primary Schools in Mamone, about 8km outside Jane Furse’s central business district, within the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipal.
