LIMPOPO – The 29-year-old man, believed to be the mastermind behind a series of robberies which were taking place in and around the Makhado Cluster, was arrested recently during the Tactical Intelligence Driven Joint Operation “Quiet Storm”.
Operation “Quite Storm” was composed of the Makhado Cluster Crime Intelligence, the Makhado Detectives and the Makhado Cluster K9 Unit
Police SPokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngeope says it is alleged that the suspect was terrorising local residents in the area by using the same modus operandi. “He was allegedly working with a woman who would lure their victims from the Louis Trichardt central business district (CBD) to the bushes after they opted to buy sex. While in that spot, this suspect would then pounce on them and rob them of their valuable items such as cellphones, bank cards including cash amount of money,” Ngoepe explained.
Ngoepe added that the suspect has been linked to a total of nineteen robbery cases which he allegedly committed between November 2018 and this month, February 2019
The suspect may be linked to more other cases in other areas and he will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court soon, Ngoepe concluded.
