WATCH] Capricorn TVET college students continue protest action in Polokwane

The protest action in front of the entrance of the Capricorn TVET College Polokwane Campus which started out peaceful became heated after disgruntled students were informed that only the representatives from the SRC were allowed to raise their concerns at the central office.

The students are allegedly up in arms over student accommodation and allowances which have not been paid out.

On Thursday the students rampaged through the streets of Polokwane after members from the Public Order Policing Unit forced the group to disperse from in front of the central office in Market Street. Several students allege the police used rubbed bullets and teargas during the incident.

In retaliation the students took to the streets where municipal property was damaged and the roads were left littered in stones and refuse. Passing vehicles were also pelted with stones.
