Thirteen suspects were arrested on various charges during a joint intelligence-driven operation in the Groblersdal cluster last week.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the operation composed of different units and yielded positive results.
A total of 13 suspects aged between 22 and 46 years were arrested for various offences. Four suspects aged between 23 and 42 years were arrested for armed robbery allegedly committed at Ga-Moloi village outside Nebo.
It is reported that the driver of a beverage company and his assistants were preparing to off-load stock at a local store when a group of armed suspects attacked them, fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police were immediately notified and a joint operation conducted to trace the culprits. Six suspects were cornered at Jane Furse driving in two vehicles. Four were arrested while two others managed to flee during a shootout between them and the Police, according to Ngoepe.
Meanwhile, quick reaction of the Police resulted in the arrest of eight suspects for contravention of the Migration Act at Leeuwfontein outside Marble Hall.
Ngoepe reiterated that Police responded to information received about a group of foreigners applying for ID smart cards at an RDP house in the area.
When Police arrived they found two suspects, aged 33 and 62, completing application forms for their so-called clients.
They were arrested for fraud while six others were apprehended for contravention of the Migration Act.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Jan Scheepers congratulated the officers for a job well done.
