IN PICTURES: Protesters go on a rampage through CBD and lower CBD areas
Several road signs have been damaged and roads left littered with stones following student protests in the central business district a short while ago.
POLOKWANE – Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the protests allegedly started in College Street earlier today.
According to reports the protesters, believed to be students, made their way into the CBD and further south towards Suid Street disrupting traffic and pelting passing vehicles with stones.
“Public Order Police (POP) have been deployed and the situation is under control. No serious damage has been reported,” Ngoepe concludes.
