Pakistanis in dock for murder, kidnapping

Two Pakistani nationals are expected to appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday) after they were arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping, dismembering and killing of a woman at Ga-Mahlakwane in December.
According to Provincial Police Communications Head, Motlafela Mojapelo the duo are facing charges of kidnapping, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
This follows intense investigations into the disappearance and death of Precious Mohlale Magagane (36) who was reported missing on 23 December. Intelligence-driven operations led the investigating team to the two Pakistani nationals who were arrested in the same area last Thursday, according to Mojapelo.
“The sterling detective work by our operatives led to the discovery of the remains believed to be that of the deceased. These dismembered remains were found disposed of at different places in the area along the Burgersfort Lydenburg road,” Mojapelo was quoted to have said in a statement. He added that the remains will undergo DNA tests.
During the arrest Police recovered a 9 mm pistol, ammunition and a motor vehicle. A cell phone belonging to the deceased was also recovered from the seized vehicle.
The motive behind the gruesome murder is not yet known and detail unfolds as the investigations progress.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Jan Scheepers has commended all members involved in solving the case and also thanked members of the community for providing the necessary valuable information.
