Kobus the Farmer is on a mission to feed 100 children

Makotse Drop In Centre has been chosen as the recipient of 'Share A Meal For A Day' which is part of a A Re Tsebaneng intiative.

POLOKWANE – Kobus Mogogorwane, also known as ‘Kobus, The Farmer’ is on a mission to ensure that 100 needy children will have a meal on the 28 February.

The social entrepreneur is the man behind the A Re Tsebaneng, an annual social gathering that aims to bring people together outside of social media to socialize on a more personal level. Makotse Drop In Centre has been chosen as the recipient of ‘Share A Meal For A Day’ which is part of a A Re Tsebaneng intiative.

“We are doing this in the famously known month of love with the aim of showing love to the less privileged and to curb social ill like poverty within our communities,” he said.

In an effort to raise enough funds to make the day a reality, Kobus has started a door-to-door campaign where he requests assistance not just from businesses but also the people the Lebowakgomo community. He would like to spread awareness but lacks the man power and resources to cover a larger area.

“The campaign is going really well, although so far the only business that has donated towards this great initiative is Majamos. The door to door campaign has made a serious impact because most of the funds raised have come from there. We also have a professional chef who will be using his skills in the kitchen as a means to giving back the best way he knows how, which is cooking,” he said.

He shared that most of the support he has received is from the older people. “I think it is because such touching lives programs turn to resonate with them more. The youth usually want fun and entertainment. If this was a party, I bet we’d be shocked by their support we’d be receiving,” he said. On 28 February, children will be treated to a simple yet quality and healthy lunch of brown rolls, lettuce, tomatoes, fried eggs and vienna. They will also have the first ever 100 percent fruit juice. People who would like to lend a hand in making this initiative possible can contact 0629979321.hotmail@aretsebaneng.co.za
