POLOKWANE – Through lots of practice and positive thoughts these learners prevailed and proved that the sky truly is the limit, says coach Dennis Morifi. “We are very proud of the learner’s achievement and this goes to show that they are dedicated athletes and always strive for best result. Even with our not so well established and improved sporting facilities, they still performed at their best,” he explained.
This Saturday, 16 February three of the learners from Nirvana Primary will be competing in the Capricorn Region athletics at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex.
Here is what some of the top performing athletes had to say about their sports (athletic) participation and achievements thus far:
Mooketsi Ramodila, u/13 800m long distance athlete has bagged first position during the cluster level athletics which took place at Peter Mokaba Stadium. “I am very proud of my progress by far, I love and enjoy running. It keeps me fit and I love the challenge that comes with competing with other learners from other schools whom I do not know as I am pushed to keep working hard and push to achieve that number one spot,” he explained.
Lebogang Thobakgale, u/12 long jump athlete said, “It is tough when we are competing against learners from other schools, but I always have positive thoughts in mind that I can do it because I practice hard. I obtained third position in this level and I look forward to the next level in long jump, I am aiming for position one,” he added.
Moshe Makgaba, u/12 said, “As a hurdles athlete I need to be focused in each race, from start to finish not only to increase my chances of winning but also avoiding to get injured as injuries are common during hurdles athletics,” he explained.
