LETSITELE: Six awaiting trial prisoners escape while being given food by police

Police say the circumstances around the escape are still being investigated.

LIMPOPO – Police in Letsitele, outside Tzaneen, have launched a massive manhunt for six awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from holding cells on Saturday afternoon, 9 February.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the six awaiting trial prisoners escaped when they were being given food by police.

The escaped prisoners were identified as follows:

 – Adam Baloyi (20): Arrested for house robbery.

– Eddie Baloyi (20): Arrested for armed robbery and attempted murder.

– Benedict Ledwaba (36): Arrested for theft.

– Doctor Kubayi (31): Arrested for burglary business.

– Lordwick Mhlongo (36): Arrested for burglary business.

– Frank Nyambi (31): Arrested for burglary business.

“The circumstances around the escape are still being investigated. Anyone with information that can lead to the re-arrest of these escapees may contact Colonel Cecil Machimane at 082 451 7181, the crime stop number 0860010111, the crime line SMS 32211 or the nearest police station,” he concluded.
