Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Basikopo Makamu is scheduled to meet Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana in Pretoria later this morning (Monday) to brief the country on the status of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) that was recently detected in the Vhembe district of the province as well as on drought relief.
Makamu recently visited areas in Limpopo affected by the disease and observed the dipping and vaccination of cattle at some of the villages where he interacted with farmers.
Departmental spokesperson Molebatsi Masedi confirmed that 15 road blocks were in operation to restrict movement from the red line areas.
