LIMPOPO – Ncube was one of three men arrested on 26 September 2018 ater they were found to be in possesion of explosives. The trio were on their way from Zimbabawe to South African when the vehicle they were traveling in was stopped and searched at the Beitbridge Port of entry by customs officials, said Spokesperson for the Hawks, Capt Matimba Maluleke.
“The resultant search uncovered a significant number of explosives with an estimated street value of approximately R200 000 hidden in the vehicle.”

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit was enlisted to conduct further investigations following the arrest and after a series of court appearances Ncube was convicted and sentenced.
The Musina Regional Court convicted Ncube for unlawful possession and smuggling of explosives and ordered Ncube to serve 15 years imprisonment for unlawful possession of explosives and an additional 15 years for smuggling explosives. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
His co-accused were acquitted, Maluleke concluded.
