Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) held a practice session for its athletes at the school sport field last Thursday in preparation of the upcoming P1 Athletics meeting at old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 24 January.
The meeting will see young athletes from primary schools in the Polokwane cluster compete in track and field items.
Last year the school managed to secure two gold medals in track events and three silver in field items.
Mabine Mametja, the school’s head of sport said they were aiming for gold in all events this year.
“Last year we did not do well, but we want to improve from that performance. I think we have a formidable team. We are ready, we have trained hard and the learners know what is expected from them. I am confident that we will do well,” Mametja stated.
