Limpopo Premier sends delegation to Mozambique to support families of missing swimmers

Limpopo Premier, Chupu Mathabatha sent a delegation to Mozambique to support the families of missing swimmers

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Premier, Chupu Mathabatha, has been in contact with the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the Mozambican Authorities and the families of the missing young people. A group of eight young people reportedly left the province on 12 January to celebrate a birthday of one of them at the Mozambican coastal line.
During an outing when they went swimming at the Portuguese Islands, four of the group members were overpowered and swept away by a wave and went missing.  The other four were rescued with the assistance of the Mozambican authorities.
“We wish to thank the South African Embassy, the Mozambican Authorities, and the navy for their immediate response in rescuing the four and the continued search of the other four,” Mathabatha said.
