Monica Talane from Lebowakgomo says she opts for sheets made of satin, silk, or microfibre polyester to get a good night’s sleep. “These fabrics are breathable and ideal for those hot nights when the sheets tend to stick to your sweaty body.  These cool fabrics will keep you ‘cool as a cucumber,’ and leave you with a sense of relief,” Monica added.

Pheladi Mabule from Ivy Park says she always keeps a water bottle with her wherever she goes, either at home, the office or when she goes out. “Normal plastic bottles do not do justice when it comes to heat because if you keep the water in the car or with you, the water will quickly get hot.  I usually keep my water in an aqua-stainless steel vacuum bottle (flask-like bottle) which you can use in either hot season where my water keeps cool, or in cold season where my beverages remain hot.”

Vacuum bottles are the way to go to keep your liquids cool and keep you refreshingly hydrated during the day or at night, Pheladi added.

She continued and suggested that people should also opt for day and night clothing made of thinner, breathable fabric such as lightweight cotton, linen or rayon blend.

However if you want to sleep in short, sleeveless night clothes you must also consider mosquito’s.

“Most of us know that mosquitoes and summer and synonymous and I bet no one loves mosquito bites that leave a red or dark spot on our body. I suggest using a bug/mosquito fan, they work wonders for me. You can also use a mosquito net or repellent however that will not get rid of the irritating buzzing sound,” Pheladi concluded.
