“We have however in the past years had to deal with a few unsettled and teary eyed gr R learners who are overwhelmed by the change of environment brought by the transition from preschool to big school. As educators we try our level best to try to keep the children calm by providing them a safe space that they can let loose, be comfortable and have fun while they learn,” she explained.

The first week is all about playing and making the children comfortable, she said.

We incorporate the concept of fun in their learning to make easier for them to grasp the work which is turn aids progression. “We let the kids play a lot on the first two days of school so that they feel comfortable and not feel like they are made to work, work, work.  Play is very important, it allows children to socialise and develop friendships,” she concluded
