#WFD – Gourmet Boerie Rolls With Mushroom, Red Onion and Balsamic Sauce

Serve the sauce and crumbled blue cheese separately and allow people to serve as they please

POLOKWANE – What could be better than a traditional, lekker boerie roll?

How about a gourmet boerie roll?

Ingredients

  1. 4 bread rolls, sliced and spread with margarine
  2. 30ml sunflower oil
  3. 15ml margarine
  4. 1 large clove garlic, crushed
  5. 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
  6. 1 punnet (250 g) button mushrooms, sliced
  7. 45ml balsamic vinegar
  8. 1 x KNORR Chicken Stock Pot
  9. 45ml water
  10. 40g blue cheese, crumbled

Method

  1. Heat sunflower oil and margarine in a pan and gently sauté the onion and garlic. Allow to cook on a low heat to caramelise for about 10 minutes
  2. Add the button mushrooms and cook until tender, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
  3. Add the balsamic vinegar, KNORR Chicken Stock Pot and water
  4. Allow the KNORR Chicken Stock Pot to melt and stir well then remove from the heat
  5. Serve the sauce and crumbled blue cheese separately and allow people to serve as they please
