Olifantspoort plant operating at full capacity, reports muni

All areas of supply will be affected says the Polokwane Municipality

POLOKWANE – The Olifantspoort Plant is reported to be operating at full capacity following the earlier shutdown due to the poor raw quality of water.

“The plant is currently pumping to Polokwane. A second pump has also been engaged which will run for an hour to boost the Krugerburg inflow as the command at the back was very low,” reads a statement issued by the Polokwane Municipality.

Residents are still advised to use water sparingly at all times.

POLOKWANE – The Olifantspoort Plant has been shut off due to poor raw quality of water.

This is according to the Polokwane Municpality who received a a notification regarding the shut down from Lepelle Northern Water .

In the notification LNW states that the plant experienced power dips in the early hours of this morning and when power was restored the water quality was very poor to start the plant. The poor raw quality of water is sitting at 40 000 NTU.

All areas of supply in the municipality will be affected and the municipality urges residents in the areas receiving water to use water sparingly.
