Mokopane’s matric results revealed

Cheers and tears dominated school grounds right before the first weekend of the new year as public school matric results for the class of 2018 were released this morning, 4 January.

MOKOPANE- Bosveld visited schools across Mokopane and witnessed the youth’s anticipation for their results. Waterberg High once again secured a 100% pass rate, says Linah Molefe, proud headgirl of 2018. She is also the school’s top performing learner, taking home five distinctions.

 Two more headgirls took the number one spot of their schools; both Hoërskool Piet Potgieter’s Anria Kruger (Mokopane) and Hoërskool Hans Strijdom’s Cecilia Pauer (Mookgophong) achieved six distinctions. Hoërskool Hans Strijdom achieved a 97.26% pass rate and Hoërskool Piet Potgieter, 91.61%

 According to the data released by the Department of Education, Piet Potgieter achieved 63,38% admission to bachelor degree studies (up by 4,51% compared to 2017) for its 142 learners while Waterberg reached 60,55% (6,12% down compared to 2017) for its 109 learners. Hans Strijdom totalled 64,79% admission to bachelor degree studies for their 71 learners (an 6,56% increase over 2017).

 The Independent Examination Board (IEB) released their results yesterday, Thursday 3 January. MECS boasts with Mokopane’s top learner, Aishah Tayob, who took home seven distinctions. CVO-Skool Potgietersrus’ Sumé Venter is their top performing student with six distinctions. Both schools achieved 100% pass rate.
