Heuwelkruin, Mitchell House and PEPPS rejoice following release of IEB results

Both Curro Heuwelkruin and PEPPS obtained a 100% pass rate.

POLOKWANE – There will be smiles all round today as the IEB class of 2018 received their matric results.

According to Umalusi, the 2018 pass rate is 98.92%, compared to last year’s pass rate of 98.76%.

11 514 full-time and 858 part-time candidates from 249 examination centres across  Southern Africa wrote the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in October and November 2018. This is an increase from 2017 when there were 11 464 full-time candidates and 666 part-time candidates.

In Limpopo, 375 learners from 12 schools sat for their IEB examinations.

PEPPS are rejoicing with another 100% pass rate with 91% of their learners passing with a Bachelor Degree entrance. The school say they are exceptionally proud of the learners and their achievements.

For the ninth consecutive year, Curro Heuwelkruin achieved a 100% pass rate.

Chief Executive Officer, Eben Lingenfelder, told Review that 93% of learners passed with admission to Bachelor degree studies and 7% with admission to diploma studies. “The grade average is 68%,” he said. 

Heuwelkruin’s top learner was Maria Tamayo Isla with eight distinctions and an average of 89%.

Mitchell House’s class of 2018 improved on their prelim examination performances by an average of 8% and according to the school’s Director of Marketing, Achsah Phoshoko, have performed very well in these examinations.

“There were a total of 43 distinctions and 25 of our matriculants earned a Bachelor’s Degree pass,” she said.

Michael Muchopa, Rithik Samuel and Dauda Sheni all broke new academic ground at Mitchell House by becoming the first learners of the college to achieve eight distinctions in their final examinations

Results for matriculants that wrote the National Senior Certificate (NSC) will be released on 4 January 2019.
