Polokwane Municipality and Polokwane Tourism Association hosted the three days’ annual Limpopo Tourism Fair at Savannah Mall, starting last Thursday.
At total of 73 exhibitors that included 25 crafters and 48 others, set up their stalls at various locations in the mall to ensure that the event did not go unnoticed.
The majority of the exhibitors was from the hospitality and tourism fraternity and included South African National Parks and Limpopo Tourism Agency. Crafters from the city and surrounding rural areas took the opportunity to showcase their hand-made items of clothing, jewellery and foodstuffs.
Visitors were treated to complimentary rides in a tuk-tuk, taking them for a brief tour of some attractions of the city and for those that were not so adventurous, a free game of ten pin bowling made a visit to the fair an enjoyable experience.
Chairperson of PTA Gerhard Franken said that Limpopo is a tourism hub of the country and thanked the exhibitors for their support. “The interest that the public has shown in the event, clearly indicated that we have succeeded in our goal to market the province as such,” Franken said.
