The six suspects who face charges of malicious damage to property relating to an incident of alleged vandalism at a Vodacom outlet at Mall of the North last Sunday, are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court again in February after they were released on warning last Thursday.
According to Provincial Police Corporate Communications Head, Motlafela Mojapelo the names of the suspects, aged between 25 and 45, are currently being withheld pending further Police investigation.
The arrests follow an incident at Mall of the North when several suspects reportedly stormed a Vodacom store and vandalised the property. The estimated damage caused by the incident is R900 000, according to Mojapelo.
The Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba once again issued a stern warning against any acts of vigilantism and that the law will take its course, regardless of the suspects’ standing in society.
More arrests are expected.
