Woman (46) carjacked in front of a house in Polokwane

Provincial Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe has urged the public to work with the police and report suspicious activities following a carjacking incident over the weekend in a suburb within the city.

POLOKWANE – According to Ngoepe the incident happened at around 21:40 in Flora Park on Sunday, 9 December.

“The 46-year-old woman from Flora Park told the Police that she left her vehicle, a white Polo Vivo idling while she got out to open her gate. While at the gate she says she saw a vehicle, red Hyundai, stop right behind her vehicle and out of fear says she ran into her yard as she suspected something bad was about to happen. When she looked back she saw two men get inside her vehicle and drive away.”
She immediately contacted the police who responded swiftly, and helped her open a case of motor vehicle theft. Further investigations led to the vehicle being found abandoned at Grobler Street next to a local mall, said Ngoepe.

No arrest have been made as yet.

Ngoepe advised residents to be extra vigilant at all times whenever they are approaching their gates to prevent this type of incident from occurring.

“The police will continue to do regular street patrols to ensure safety in the community throughout the festive season and urge the public to contact the police immediately should they see any suspicious activities taking place. We need community members to work with us to ensure safety in our communities and that such criminal activities do not occur,” he concluded.
