Two more speedsters caught driving above 200km/h, arrested on the N1

Their arrests come after a commitment by Limpopo Traffic Officials to not "play 'buddy buddy' with those who do not obey the rules of the road".

POLOKWANE – Two men were arrested on Sunday, 9 December for driving above the speed limit on the N1.

According to the spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, a 42-year-old man was arrested after travelling in a BMW X3 at 208 km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 South. He was caught near the Nyl Plaza and was detained at the Mokopane police station.

Moremi-Taueatsoala says the arrests come after a commitment was made by traffic officials to the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje, to not play ‘buddy buddy’ with anyone who is on the wrong side of the law.

“Those who do not obey the rules of the road, we’ve got news for you, we will arrest you,” he concluded.
