All the city’s reservoirs were empty this morning (Friday), except for the Potgieter Avenue reservoir that was at a critical 4% of capacity and water shortages are expected until the levels have rehabilitated.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo said that although the Ebenezer plant is pumping at full capacity, operating challenges are experienced at pump station PS3 on the Specon pipeline from the Olifantspoort water treatment works.
“Most of the areas in the city, Mankweng, Mamabolo and Seshego are affected and consumers in areas receiving supply are urged to use water sparingly. The municipality appreciates your cooperation in this regard and will continue to deploy water tankers in areas experiencing water shortages,” Mothapo added.
Mothapo thanked consumers for their understanding and advised them to report shortages at the water helpline on 015 290 2376 or 015 290 2629 to ensure that water tankers are well managed.
