Defensive Riding course to return to city, book your spot NOW

Dynamic Road safety in conjunction with the Road Accident Fund is once again bringing the defensive riding course to the Polokwane short circuit on Saturday 7 December.

POLOKWANE – Defensive Riding course will once again be returning to the city to help educate and sharpen the skills of motorcycle riders. The programme is geared for riders coming back into motorcycling after a lay off or for riders that want to improve their skills.

With drunk/reckless driving incidents being more prevalent during the festive season, this course is the ideal way for two wheel fans and first time bikers to learn how to minimise their risk of being involved in an accident.

The training will be for one day and last approximately six hours and will be given by top instructors Diete Engelbrecht, Heine Engelbrecht, Gareth Diesel, Jade Whitehouse and Chris Ndimande.

The programme will includes the following:

• Ride safely in traffic.

• Improve traffic awareness.

• Select proper lane position.

• Identify hazards.

• Decide how to avoid conflict.

• Execute riding decisions.

• Advanced braking.

• Cornering.

• Emergency stopping.

• Collision avoidance and swerving.

• Riding on different surfaces.

• Riding in difficult situations.

Riders participating must make sure that they are dressed in their safety gear. Helmet, gloves, long sleeve shirt, jeans, motorcycle jacket and ankle protective boots must be worn.

Participants are encouraged to use their own motorcycles in order to better familiarize themselves with their bikes.

After successful completion, riders will receive an On-Road Academy Certificate of Proficiency.

There will be a two-hour theory class, which will consist of DVD and slid show before the practical starts.

The event will start at 08:00 till 14:00.
