The University of Venda announced that they are in the process to build yet another Science Centre in Vhembe District Municipality.

LIMPOPO -The announcement was made by Prof Natasha Potgieter, Dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences during her welcome address on the 20th South African Agency for Science a Technology Advancement conference.

The conference was hosted by the University of Venda, Vuwani Science Resource Centre, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology and Saasta in Muledane.

The four-day conference started on 26 November and saw scientists, organisations and institutions presenting their research papers.

This year’s conference was hosted under the theme Making Madiba Proud.

Potgieter said it was with great pleasure that she could welcome delegates from different institutions.

She added that the University of Venda has managed to come from humble beginning to make a difference in Limpopo in terms of science.

Potgieter further urged guests to interact with their peers and scientists, as it would be beneficial to them and also to ensure that they go back to their respective areas wiser.

“As the country, we should avoid tunnel thinking, but start thinking out of the box in the process of living the Mandela legacy by making a difference and changing the world through science and technology,” she concluded.
