[TAKE NOTE] Olifantspoort Plant is running at low capacity due to quality of raw water

All areas of supply will be affected, starting with high catchment areas, says the Polokwane Municipality

POLOKWANE – According to a notice received from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) the plan is running at low capacity due to the quality of the raw water following a heavy storm in the area last night, said the Polokwane Municipality is a statement on Monday morning.

LNW have since engaged Scientific Services who are attending to the situation, however, as a result all areas of supply being Lebowakgomo, Chuene/Maja, Seshego, parts of Polokwane will be affected. Supply from Mamabolo and Mankweng may also be affected.

“Some areas in the city are already experiencing shortages due to the drastically declining levels in the reservoirs as well as the low supply of water coming from the plants. Residents living in the areas which are receiving water are once again urged to use this precious resource sparingly.”

The reservoir readings this morning are as follows:

Potgieter – 73%
50Ml – 12%
30 Ml (Krugersburg) – 0%
30 Ml (Krugersburg) – 0%
Extension 34 – 48%
Seshego – 15%
Ebenezer – 92 liters per seconds
Olifantspoort – 0 liters per second

Water tankers will be deployed to the affected areas, concluded the municipality.
