Consumers in high-lying areas of the city may experience low pressure and water shortages from today (Monday) due to restricted inflow from the Olifantspoort plant due to poor raw water quality entering the system from areas affected by storms over the week end.
Water supply will also be affected on Tuesday (tomorrow) evening and Wednesday due to planned maintenance on a bulk reticulation line that will involve the replacement of T-piece at the corner of Grobler Street and De Wet Drive.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo indicated that the work will start at 16:00 on Tuesday and may take 12 hours before pumping to reservoirs can resumed.
“Areas of supply to be affected include Bendor, Ster Park, Serala View, Flora Park, Môregloed and some parts of the vcity and we urge all affected stakeholders to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the repairs. The municipality apologises for the inconvenience to be caused during this period and advises consumers to report water related issues on 015 290 2376 or 015 290 2473,” Mothapo said and confirmed that water tankers will be deployed in the affected areas.
