Six people killed in taxi and bus collision on the N1 North near Beitbridge

Both vehicles were travelling from Gauteng, says the Department of Transport

LIMPOPO – Six people have been killed and three people seriously injured in this morning’s collision on the N1 North between Musina and Beitbridge.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed that six people had been killed, three are in a critical condition, three seriously injured and six passengers were slightly injured.

The passengers were all travelling from Gauteng to Zimbabwe.


LIMPOPO – Preliminary reports indicate five people have been killed in an accident on the N1 North near Musina involving two cross border vehicles.

According to the spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the accident happened in the early hours of this morning when a Toyota Quantam made an unsafe u-turn and collided head on with a bus.

“At this point in time, the number of fatalities have not been confirmed but preliminary reports say five people have been killed and there have been multiple injuries,” he said.

Moremi-Taueatsoala says the accident was caused by reckless driving and also urged motorists to not travel when fatigued.

He concluded by saying that police and emergency services are still on scene and that a conclusive report will follow.
