As part of the launch of the Festive Season operations, Limpopo Police not only received over 300 vehicles to be distributed to stations across the province but also opened another satellite station at Zebediela on Friday. This after a satellite station was opened at Marapong outside Lephalale recently.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba was quoted to have said that the launch of the Festive Season operations is a declaration of their state of readiness for the coming holidays and to commit themselves through the operational plan to deal with all criminal activities synonymous to this time of the year.
Most of the crimes are believed to be encouraged by the abuse of liquor, greed, domestic violence, hitch hiking and the festive season fever, according to Ledwaba who also warned those who will be sharing stokvel money to guard against carrying large amounts of money.
During the launch of the satellite station Ledwaba also handed the vehicles to several Police stations across the province. This after a satellite station was opened at Marapong outside Lephalale recently.
Ledwaba alluded that the handing over of the vehicles, the launch of the Festive Season operations as well as the satellite stations are part of the interaction between the Police and members of the community about the level of service they provide.
Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Policing Jan Scheepers was quoted to have said that the stations are operational 24 hours per day to serve communities of the respective areas and surroundings.
“The satellite stations are situated to accelerate the fight against crime especially on the response time when duty calls,” Scheepers said.
