The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo has commenced with pre-registration for next weekend’s list conference on Tuesday. It is expected that the most important item on the conference agenda would be voting for qualifying names of party representatives for seats in the Legislature and at national level ahead of next year’s elections.
More than 400 branches of the organisation in the province have just concluded about three weeks of branch general meetings (BGMs), which ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) spokesperson Donald Selamolela termed as the most crucial and sensitive process of nominating party representatives to take up positions for the next five years. He claimed that the process, which drew to a close on Sunday, had proceeded without incident.
The initial date for the list conference was seemingly being impacted on by this week’s visit by the party’s national elections team and officials’ visit planned for Saturday and Sunday, hence it was postponed by a week, it was learnt. It was all systems go for the pending conference, Selamolela assured in conclusion.
