Here are some home remedies for you to look after a newly grown beard or moustache.

Home made beard cleanser:

1. Squeeze some fresh citrus fruit into a bowl and dilute it with some hot water. Then, with a cloth, dab the solution on your beard and give it a light scrub. There’s no need to be too aggressive and risk damaging your beard, the citric acid and hot water do all the work here.

2. After rinsing your beard clean, use apple-cider vinegar as a natural conditioner. The apple-cider vinegar has a PH level similar to your hair and skin, so will provide restorative properties.

Luxury DIY beard shampoo

• Distilled water.

• Liquid castile soap.

• Avocado oil (2 tsp).

• Peppermint oil (a few drops).

• Tea-tree oil (a few drops).

The amounts will depend on the size of the batch you want to create, but make sure there’s twice as much water as liquid soap.

Growing a beard will also mean the you need to look after it. Making use of a beard oil will help.

Here is a homemade recipe:

14 grams of Argan oil.

7 grams of Jojoba oil.

7 grams of Sweet Almond oil.

7 drops Lavender Essential oil.

5 drops Rosemary Essential oil.

3 drops Cedarwood Essential oil.

Combine all ingredients in a glass bottle with a dropper. Gently stir together.

To apply: Depending on beard length, drop 3-5 drops in one hand. Longer beards will require more drops but remember, a little goes a long way, so increase amount by one drop at a time. Dip fingertips from the other hand in the oil and rub oil all over beard. When all the oil has been applied, use fingertips to massage oil down into the beard all the way to the skin. Use a small comb to smooth down the beard.
